Across theater and opera — we know what surtitles need to do in the room, not just on the page.
What we offer
Text study & preparation
Surtitles that respect the music, the dramaturgy, and the pace of the performance. We prepare texts for readability, line breaks, and operator workflow — because bad preparation shows up on opening night.
Translation coordination
Multi-language productions for international audiences, festivals, and touring programmes. We work with the material until it is ready for live cueing.
Live projection
Experienced operators using SuperTitles software in the booth — for single performances, festival runs, and touring engagements.
Translators network
A trusted network of translators for theater and opera — matched to the production, language pair, and rehearsal schedule, and coordinated through to final surtitle files.
Projection & LED partners
Specification, briefing, and on-site coordination with projection and LED partners — so surtitle output fits the technical setup and the venue’s constraints.
Video subtitles on demand
Not our core work — live surtitles in the theater is — but we do take on subtitles for video when festivals and theaters need them: trailers, archive recordings, streamed talks, and promotional material. Ask us if you have a file and a deadline; we will say honestly whether we can fit it in.
Full festival coordination
End-to-end surtitles for festival-scale programming: multi-venue schedules, teams, languages, and technical scope — from planning through opening night.
Athens & Epidaurus Festival case study →Theater & opera
Our experience spans spoken theater and opera — two very different demands on timing, text density, and rehearsal workflow. We have supported productions at major Greek institutions and international festivals, including long-running collaborations with the Athens Festival and the National Theatre of Greece.
When to choose service vs. software
- Software — you have operators (or want to train them) and need the best tool for the job
- Service — you want the result without staffing projection and text prep yourself
- Both — we prepare and project while you evaluate the platform for future in-house use
Why our text preparation matters
Anyone can put words on a screen. What separates a good surtitles experience is preparation: how lines break, how much text fits a musical phrase, how an operator can recover when the soprano takes an extra breath. That is the work we have refined over more than a thousand performances.
We also progressively unveil titles — same line, revealed in stages so the audience cannot read ahead of the performance,
sometimes word by word when timing demands it. That is preparation and operator skill, and
our software supports it directly: in the editor, a pipe | in the text marks inline pauses
so the booth can extend the line at the right moment.
